People in a Safe Knowledge Society Worshop
The main topic in the seminar was the challenging future of eInclusion, and especially the ageing problems in Europe. As the ICT has been found one of the most promising assisting technologies to fight societal exclusion, the purpose of the seminar was to show what kind of activities European Commission DG Information Society and Media has foreseen on the policies, programme and practical levels as part of its i2010 initiative.
The audience and the speakers were challenged with some basic questions like “What can knowledge society and ICT-based services bring to a better quality of life?”, “How can we achieve eServices and take advantage of Web 2.0 technologies?” and further “How will people benefit and interact with inclusive eServices taking also care of privacy concerns, and what about the elderly people with social and health care needs?”.
As a practical response to these questions, the seminar also included a presentation of a show case, the T-Seniority project : It is a running CIP ICT PSP pilot project, which will show how the combination of interactive multichannel digital TV system and strong authentication can help in health and social homecare.
The workshop was carried out in a form of a round table panel enabling the participants to have
easily living discussion and Q & A about the related subject during the workshop.
